There are some stories that might lift your spirits. I had asked Chuck if I could come up and have him teach me about washing windows. He said: “yes, come next Monday.” I was in Pittsburg, CA it would be an eleven-hundred-mile trip. I left Pittsburg Saturday night. I drove into Winnemucca, NV on I-80, and then turned north on highway 95. It is not the fastest route but I had never driven up that way before. I drove through some wonderful country, much of it is national forest, and also Nez Perce Indian forest, which is also national forest. I set up my tent at a campground somewhere along 93 and slept for a short time. It was a great place to camp. It was along side a river. On the far side of the river was the highway. I was there four or five hours. The whole time I was there I believe only one other vehicle drove up the highway. On a side note my tent and sleeping bag I have owned since 1972. Sunday, I continued north. It was a very hot day and the AC in the car no longer works. I stopped at a roadside park, and dipped my shirt in the stream and put it back on wet. It was a cold mountain stream. There was a young couple there with 2 children. The children were playing near the river. I introduced myself to the parents and struck up a conversation. Much of that conversation was on the wonders of serving Christ. They were open. We will see what God does with it. I mostly feel as if I have not shared enough. Often it is just my story, or what Christ has done for me.
South of Missoula, Montana 93 joins 95, which goes on north to Kalispell, Montana. It was nine or so at night I was going through Missoula. I picked up a hitchhiker going north on 95. He was just out of prison. As God would have it, he had just begun to learn of Christ in prison. God was able to open his understanding and he learned his need of seeking his answers from the master teacher and the word of God. He also learned to surrender his will to the giver of life. It was a wonderful trip to Kalispell. I gave him a bible and an old highlighter that I had.
But this story does not end there. When I arrived at Chuck’s I learned that he did not know that I was coming. I showed him the text messages on my phone. He told me that he never sent them! Come to find out the number I had was no longer his number. So the person who now had that number had sent me that text. Chuck was still happy to teach me about window
