On my walk a few days back I saw this block of maple sitting in the water in the field. Surprise surprise it had new growth coming out the side of it. I was reminded of Christ's words in the parable of the sower: "Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:: Matthew 13:5 This block of wood was sitting in a very wet part of the field. So it was growing. What will happen when there is no water and the sun is drying it out? It will most likely wither away, One day soon I will walk down there again and will let you know. but perhaps the farmer will just haul it away for next years firewood.
